Not Just The Levees Broke...

Peace to the many supporters of New Orleans, Louisiana during and after Hurricane Katrina. I am one of the many, many SURVIVORS OF HURRICANE KATRINA. I was featured in SPIKE LEE'S HBO FILM DOCUMENTARY,"WHEN THE LEVEES BROKE." As life in New Orleans, Louisiana are moving forward and healing, so am I and my native New Orleanians. With the very instrumental help that I recieved from Mr. Lee, I have a Hurricane Katrina Memoir being published by Simon&Schuster, New York, New York. My agent is William-Morris Agency,LLC. New York, New York. The publish date is August 19,2008. I am being scheduled for a 3-City Book Tour: New Orleans, New York and Washington,DC. There is also for viewing, an Author's Video on Simon&Schuster's Site as well as Barnes & Noble, YouTube and a few others. I look forward to sharing a more indepth telling of what myself, husband, and family as well as others went through during and after Hurricane Katrina. The city itself, commercially is well on its way to being the city it was pre-katrina, but a great deal of people still have not returned back home. Some have welcomed the change in other cities and are better off, some have no choice, and some still cannot accept how they cannot come back home because of political bullshit. The city of New Orleans is still struggling and this is to let folks abroad know that I appreciate all of the help that volunteers are still doing three years later. It is because of people like yourselves who give hope to the hopeless. I thank you. My life is changing for the better and moving forward, but what I went through, personally will not ever be forgotten. Forgiven but not forgotten for as long as I live. IN MY STORY, "NOT JUST THE LEVEES BROKE" I will share not only the horror of Hurricane Katrina, how the city and it's people were treated but the hope, looking to the future and hopefully change someone else's life to move forward. Life is not easy and Mother Nature is not a discriminating force, only we, human beings are. All across this country devastation is happening and we have to put aside our differences and our focus on what divides us and look to what brings us together. I just hope that my story will help not only the people of New Orleans, but people everywhere. My hope is not in vain. I believe that we have more in us than we give ourselves credit for and there is nothing wrong with that something being good. Peace and Love. I remain, MRS. PHYLLIS MONTANA-LEBLANC. HURRICANE KATRINA SURVIVOR.

For the past three school days my students and I have been studying about Hurricane Katrina. We finished watching When The Levees Broke today. It was an awesome experience to share with my students and I just wanted to thank you for sharing so much of your story and yourself with the world. At time you had us laughing until we almost cried but you also opened our eyes up to what was really going on in New Orleans. I look forward to reading your book.
